JUST
FRIENDS
The
book deals with the topic whether a man and a woman can ever be just
friends of whether this is simply impossible.
Freya and Jack, the main characters of the story, are in their thirties and both live in New York. They met each other years ago and have been friends ever since. So when Freya is left by her boyfriend, a successful lawyer, she cannot think of anywhere else to go but to Jack's apartment.
But when she decides to move in until she finds a new place, they do not get along with each other at all.
Freya does not like Jack's new girlfriend, Jack spoils Freya's dates and in the end they stop talking to each other. It is just when Jack and his girlfriend split up that Jack and Freya decide to be friends again.
When Freya gets an invitation to her stepsister's wedding in England, she does not want to go alone and Jack decides to come along and take over the part of Freya's fiancé. But once again everything starts to go wrong and Jack leaves England earlier.
Back in New York and not having heard from each other for several months, they both remember a date they had set ages ago for Freya's birthday.
But will they finally get together or remain 'just friends'? Or not even that?
