An interview with a vampire


We enter the Anglia Bookstore

and find a grumpy-looking man sitting behind his desk.


 

Politely we ask whether he could offer some time to answer a couple of questions about his store.  He gives his ok, keeps on setting up accounts, and doesn't look up once from the piles of papers in front of him during the entire interview.
 
 

Where are you from? Nottingham.
Why did you come to Munich?   I don't know.
What kind of customers do you usually have?  Mixed bag. Indian, Australian, German Japanese,... costomers
Where do you get your books from? Directly from the publisher.
Is this a profitable business? Not very.
How did people first react, when you opened your shop? Too long to remember.
How long ago was it? 30 years.
Are you independent or part of a network? Independent.
What is your daily routine like? Open up at 9.30 a.m., close 6.30 p.m., work non - stop.
Is there a difference between UK and Germany in terms of work and workers? English work harder.
Are you content with the economic framework in Germany? Very difficult. High taxes. Not easy.
How do you like it here? I like it here.
Do you feel integrated? Yeah.
What differences do you see concerning customers? Englisgenerallymore friendly.
